Peace Lily Plant
Spathiphyllum spp.

The Spathiphyllum is a long standing house plant. It produces tall flower spikes that resemble an Anthurium or Calla lily. The central column of the spike is composed of small flowers that is surrounded by a white bract that unfurl to one side when it is fully opened. There are many different varieties of Spathiphyllum with a variation of leaf sizes and shades of green as well as the size and number of flower spikes on a plant.
Spathiphyllum are common used for interior decoration. With the dark green foliage, the bright contrasting white flowers and low light tolerances, it makes an ideal plant for the industry and consumers alike.
Keep plants indoors away from direct sunlight or hot areas. It will tolerate low light conditions. Water plant often, keeping soil moist. They like fertilizer so fertilize either with a slow release fertilizer or once every two weeks with a general fertilizer.

Ranunculus
Ranunculus asiaticus

Ranunculus are vibrant colorful flowers. They are primarily grown from tubers and bloom in early March to the end of April with a wide array of flower colors, which range from shades of yellows, oranges, reds, pinks, creams and white. Ranunculus are used as a cut flower to bring bright spring colors to the any arrangement. In addition to cut flowers they are also used in the gardens for people to enjoy.
The care of an Ranunculus needs to be prompt. They use lots of water and need immediate attention when you receive your flowers. Remove lower leaves that will be submerge in water and ideally you should re-cut stem under water. Keep flowers in a cool area away from direct sunlight to help with longevity. If you are using it in the garden, plant tubers in the fall. Water thoroughly after planting, then hold off on watering until you see sprouts. When you see the sprouts begin watering intermittently keeping soil moist but not overly wet. Enjoy the blooming during the early spring. You can remove the tubers after the flowers die back and store in a cool, dry, dark area until the fall when it is time to replant.
